HEER'S DIARY - Zhater's Enchanted Forest

This was originally posted on Mosga's old forum, and was memorable enough to repost to the forums after that forum had vanished. The post describes Zhater's test of his new invention, Leaf Magic, about which nothing was known. (Indeed, Zhater related in another topic that it hadn't even been fully implemented after he discovered it, and he wasn't able to cast it right away.) Heer, in the same place as Zhater, agreed to help him with the experiment.

Learn't that zhater has invented a new Leaf Magic - Enchant Forest. We decide to collaborate and investigate the full potential of this new magic type. Initially, We speculate that this spell may help grow moonleaf trees.

Saturday Jul 19th, 03:30

Zhater ensures me there will be no ill effects! Zhater:"I'm gonna be chanting soon, won't be of any harm to u."
19:30 zhater: "I'm gonna enchant the forest ur on"
19:40 zhater: "I'm gonna be enchanting 10 times, 3 hours each. Wonder what the effects will be?"

Sunday Jul 20th, 10:17

Sys Message: zhater is "singing to the trees". I humour him;"Is that moonleaf Trees???"
15:15 Sys message:"The trees whisper in the breeze...."
15:20 Zhater did not get the sys message! Waiting for next enchantment (in 30mins time). Anticipating some weird occurrences ... nothing happens.
15:58 Zhater 'Weave's eerie enchantments into the forest' again.
15:59 zhater theorises:"I don't get sys messages about the trees being weird, maybe because I'm too busy singing it drowns out the sounds"
18:02 Sys Msg:"You hear strange rustlings in the forest..." Zhater's reply:"I don't seem to get these things. Thats Freaky..." He further adds:"I think this spell animates the trees, spawning some new creatures. But we gotta find a use for them"
18:19 I foolhardily volunteer;"i'll drop off some peeps for u to experiment on later." [Next enchant in 30 mins, both awaiting outcome]
19:12 Zhater enquires:"Enchant complete. Any weird occurences?" Nothing manifests, we wait yet again, anticpating some miraculous event. Zhater deduces:"Whispering, rustling, and only u get it... sounds like the forest is haunting u ..." We both decide to endure the long night waiting to satisfy our curiousity.
21:02 Zhater's message:" Ahhhhhhh! -panic!-" Sys Msg: "Forest life murmurs gently around you..." Fortunaletly no adverse effects take place, infact nothing yeilds at all. A false alarm, I humour zhater: "You've given birth to imps! What have you done! Nothing received on my side."

Monday Jul 21st, 05:28

A hysterical msg from zhater:"Major event!...The forest sparkles with magical light." Zhater makes further deductions based on his analysis of the time occurances of these events: "All our sys messages occured on o'clocks! What a strange coincidence... I studied the time differences between when u told me of weird events, and all the o'clocks fit together with mine in a pattern. They are all equally spaced out by a perfect 3 hours. My idea is that these things happen on the o'clock right after my enchants, just to be eerie. So, since my enchants are around 25 minutes off-hour, about 25 mins after my enchants, something weird happens. Now we know when to expect these things. And the The forest sparkles with magical light. thing, that must have been something to point out that my enchanting is getting somewhere..." we await anxiously for more outcomes ...

09:00 Sys msg:"You cannot breathe the forest air! You panic..." Despite these menacing messages i do not detect any ill effects and report this hastily to Zhater.
03:15 Sys Msg:"The wind rages in the trees! Limbs crash down around you...." it gets Scarier, report to Zhater:" My peeps are still intact, whats going on!" When i double check i realise that one of my people have been exterminated!!!
04:00 Sys Msg:"You cannot breathe the forest air! You panic......" 4 more of my people are killed!!!
16:22 Zhater replies back concerned about my welfare:"I only got a murmur. Get out! Get out!"
16:23 I subbornly respond with:"No! i want to see wot happens, leave it on!"
16:27 Zhater gets a follow up Sys msg:"Heer suddenly gasps for air"
16:29 My thirst for knowledge only increases, I urge zhater on:"We may only get 1 chance to see how lethal it can get, I can sacrifice @ 30 peeps. let's see - carry on"
16:29 zhater:"I smiled? My character's getting sinister!"
17:44 zhater:"Enchant finished in 47 minutes. Remember, take deep breaths"
17:46 My reply:"Oxygen mask on ... i'm prepared for anything!"
19:02 Zhater gets a Sys Msg:"The forest air fills with soft voices..." My investigations yield nothing ... all is well...
20:02 Zhater gets following messages, whilst i am logged off:
20:02 "You glimpse fleeting forest spirits in the trees..."
23:35 "Heer panics"

Tuesday Jul 22nd, 6:52

I log in to discover following message:"You hear something crashing through the trees!" and realised that i incurred following casualities during my log off period: Before 09:00 Sys msg:"You hear something crashing through the trees!" - 3 killed @09:00 Sys msg:"The forest suddenly fills with strange light!" - 1 casuality
17:03 Sys Msg:"You hear fearful voices whispering through the trees..." no casuality as of yet!
17:14 Zhater's reply:"That's just freaky... so far, the forest tried to kill you using: suffocation, dropping tree branches, what next?"

Zhater gets Sys msg:"Heer panics." and the Forest starts to sparkle again!
04:48 I Just logged on and discovered that 16 of my peeps are dead since 21:00
... 21:00 Sys msg:"The trees seem to move when you look away..."
... 00:00 Sys msg:"You hear something crashing through the trees!"
... 1:03 Sys msg:"Zhater smiles"
... 2:00 Sys msg:"You suddenly panic and run headlong into the trees!"
... 4:00 Sys msg:"Zhater smiles"
I get concerned and message zhater:"just logged on and discovered that 16 of my peeps are dead since 21:00, its carrying on even tho your no longer casting the spell, i'm moving to the safety of your village - my instincts tell me the next wave will be more than 16." -i make preparations to vacate the forest! Only one problem, its going to take 15 hrs, will i survive the journey!
05:00 Sys Msg:"You suddenly panic and run headlong into the trees!"
06:00 Sys Msg:"You hear strange sounds in the distance..." five more casualities during period from 05:00 to 06:00.

Wednesday Jul 23rd, 11:00

Sys Msg:"You find strange footprints beneath the trees..." - no casualities as of yet!
12:00 Sys Msg: "The trees whisper." - no casualities as of yet!
14:01 Sys Msg: "You hear fearful voices whispering through the trees" - no casualities as of yet! (perhaps a massive slaunghter is well overdue!)
16:00 Sys Msg: "The trees whisper in the breeze." - no casualities yet again. There now remains 45 mins before I reach the forest boundries and onto Earth Mountains - a sweet vision to any Earth spirit like myself, under these circumstances even more so!
17:13 Phew! managed to escape from the eeeeevil forest, with 27 less people!

Theres no doubting this is a new sinister offensive technology. 'Would you go down to the woods tonight, all alone???.' I do not recommand it, unless your in another world besides Rainbow Maiden or ones that don't have leaf people! I think this is like force bolt - it advances with increasing levels. Just imagine if you innocently walked into an enchanted forest with just 10 people, there's a high probability you won't come out alive! I think the good old days of travelling light may be over :(
